Waves exist year round though the best time for surf is often February through to June. Winter (June – August) offers warm, sunny days (25oC) with chilly nights (5-15oC). January to April is when the best pumping waves arrive from distant cyclones hovering off the Queensland coast. Summer (December to February) air temperatures are hot and very humid (30oC plus) and the water is very warm.
