Watersports in general is a theme here with surfing celebrated, snorkelling seemingly everywhere and boat excursions designed for every taste. Meet the locals on a neighboring village, explore un-inhabited islands or enjoy a BBQ dinner on a secluded sand bank.
Laamu’s six bars and restaurants are mostly set over water. Leaf is the signature restaurant perched above the organic garden where chefs create inventive dishes. Zen offers a modern twist on a traditional Kaiseki menu. Longitude is the international overwater restaurant. Chill Bar over the water offers tantalizing Vietnamese. Sip Sip is the sunken bar with all-day poolside dining. An al fresco ice cream parlour and chilled chocolate studio are the meeting place for kids and the young at heart.
Set right on the beach, Six Senses Spa Laamu offers uniquely designed treatment nests and pavilions for couples plus an Ayurvedic treatment pavilion, all within the island’s natural vegetation. Highly skilled therapists use a variety of natural products to provide a comprehensive range of signature treatments which originally Six Senses originally become renown for.
Tropicsurf provides year-round guiding and a broad program of instructional service from the resort, as well as accommodation reservations and on-the-ground advice. Two Tropicsurf bases can be found on property: the Surf Shack by the pool caters to both beginners and guests surfing the nearby house reef. Whereas the Surf Centre is located by the main departure jetty and is where the guides manage the quivers of experienced surfers’ and the surfing boat trips depart from.
April to October is prime time with the biggest and best swells delivering some overhead days and consistent offshore winds. Experienced surfers can enjoy hollow powerful waves, whilst intermediate surfers are still able to relish sheltered reefs with more forgiving consequences. Shoulder months like November and December can also deliver. Generally December to March is off season when the waves are far less reliable and the wind direction less favourable to many of the best spots.
